Resident Evil Village has already shipped over 3 million units

It seems like Capcom can finally, confidently say that Resident Evil is over its slump. The franchise stumbled with Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6, two entries that pushed action gameplay and over-the-top wackiness and left horror to the wayside. Resident Evil 7 brought the franchise back to its roots, albeit with a new protagonist and a new first-person perspective. With Resident Evil Village, it’s clear the franchise is here to stay thanks to Capcom’s announcement that the game has shipped over 3 million units globally.
Additionally, the release of Resident Evil Village, the eighth mainline entry in the franchise, set another milestone. With the combined sales from Village, “Cumulative shipments of the games in the series now exceed 100 million units since the first title debuted in 1996,” according to a press release from Capcom.

The Duke in Resident Evil Village is one fat-shaming trope too far

Resident Evil Village is finally out so everyone can experience the stomping eroticism of Lady Dimitrescu themselves.
But one character in the game has come under fire: The Duke.
The Duke pops up regularly throughout
Resident Evil Village as the merchant, able to sell protagonist Ethan Winters various items, ammo and weapon upgrades. There are some clever references to the merchant from
Resident Evil 4 for series fans too (he of “waddaya buyin’?” fame).
However, The Duke’s appearance has disappointed and angered some fans.
The tall vampire lady isn’t the only character with towering height in
Resident Evil Village. The Duke looms over you, but with a belly that bulges from beneath his shirt. When you first meet him he lunges, belly first, out of his cart.

How to earn free Resident Evil Village-themed PlayStation avatars and themes

Image via Capcom
Resident Evil Village is officially out today, and PlayStation is celebrating. That shouldn’t be a huge surprise, as Resident Evil is one of those franchises that, while not exclusive to PlayStation, is heavily associated with the console brand. To that end, PlayStation is handing out rewards to Resident Evil fans. By completing a set of “quests,” PlayStation users can earn themselves a couple of avatars, as well as a PS4 theme.
The quests themselves are extremely simple and don’t even require that users have Resident Evil Village. All you need is a valid PlayStation account. First, head to the Resident Evil Village PlayStation page. There, you should find a section at the top of the page advertising exclusive rewards. Click the button that says “Start Quest” and you’ll be on your way to free Resident Evil Village profile cosmetics.

Resident Evil Village Quests Give PS4, PS5 Players More Exclusives

Resident Evil Village Quests Give PS4, PS5 Players More Exclusives

Resident Evil Village players on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 already benefitted from some bonuses before release with those players getting first dibs on the demos whenever they were available, but the exclusives apparently aren’t done yet. Sony and Capcom announced this week that players on both PlayStation consoles can complete a series of quests to earn rewards depending on what console you’re playing on. You don’t even have to have the game itself to get these rewards, so if you’re planning on getting it but don’t have it yet, you can secure your bonuses ahead of time before the offers expire.

Resident Evil 8 limited-time PC demo has been extended by a week

Not too long ago Capcom held another Resident Evil Showcase that revealed some more gameplay for the upcoming 8th installment. But the livestream also announced a limited-time PC demo that would only be available for 24 hours. Now, after some feedback online, Capcom has decided to extend the demo by a week.
The original Resident Evil 8 demo period started on May 1st/2nd (depending on your region) and ended the day after on May 2nd/3rd. However, that has since been extended, and the PC demo will start on the same day but instead finish on May 9th/10th.
“
We've heard your feedback and are extending the availability period for the final 60-minute multi-platform #REVillage demo,” Capcom said on Twitter. “

Huzzah, the final Resident Evil Village demo has been extended from one day to one week – TheSixthAxis

27/04/21
Sometimes marketing is a pain in the neck and the Resident Evil Village demo slots are a great example of bad marketing. The cunning idea was that everyone is limited to when they can play the demo so social media and streaming services are flooded with the game, thus pushing it to the top of Twitter and Twitch and giving Capcom a bunch of free advertising.
However, with very narrow time slots many people missed on on the demo so Capcom have finally caved in and announce the final demo slot will run for one week rather than just twenty-four hours. You will still only get to play for sixty minutes but you can do so at a time that suits you rather than one that suits the, well, suits, at Capcom.

Resident Evil Village demo will now be available for longer than 24 hours

Last week during Capcom’s Resident Evil Showcase stream, the publisher announced that Resident Evil Village will indeed be getting a demo. There was just one problem – it would only be available in a small 24 hour window. Fortunately, Capcom has decided to reconsider and as a result, the demo will be available for a much longer period of time.
In an update posted this afternoon, Capcom said: “we’ve heard your feedback and are extending the availability period” for the hour long Resident Evil Village demo.
The demo will now be available in the US from 5PM PDT on 1st May to 5PM PDT on 9th May. Here in the UK, that works out to 1AM BST on 2nd May to 1AM BST on 10th May. In Europe, it will be available from 2AM CEST on the 2nd of May until 2AM CEST on the 10th of May.
