1. Introduction
The
Southern African Migration Management (SAMM) Project, funded by the European Commission, is a four-year project to improve migration management in the Southern African and Indian Ocean region. The SAMM Project is implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in collaboration with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The specific objectives (SO) and key results areas (KRA) of the project are as follows:

Notably, total employment has grown for the first time, unemployment rates continue its downward trend and we see retrenchment numbers falling to 2,100 in Q1 2021.
Advance estimates on Singapore s employment, unemployment and retrenchments noted that for the first time since 4Q 2019, total employment saw modest expansion in 1Q 2021. The number of retrenchments declined to a level usually observed in 2018 and 2019. The unemployment situation continued to ease in March 2021, although unemployment rates remained elevated.

Summary
Over the past three decades, Lebanon’s ruling class which comprises intertwined political and business elites has run the country into the ground. To survive its ongoing accumulation of challenges, including the financial crisis that erupted in October 2019, Lebanon requires a revamped state backed by a new economic model with social justice at its core. Tax reform is central to such an endeavor and to ensuring that the state has the means both to deliver basic services and to tackle poverty and inequality.
Key Themes
Since 2005, Lebanon has been characterized by extreme inequality in both income and wealth. The richest 1 percent of the population receives, on average, 25 percent of national income, while the poorest half receives less than 10 percent. Regarding wealth, the richest 10 percent of the population owns almost 70 percent of total wealth. Additionally, the middle class and the poor have little chance of upward mobility. ....

The International Migrants Day 2020 during this COVID-19 pandemic appears depressing for millions of the global migrant workers, including Bangladeshis, as they are facing crisis at different stages of migration.
Many of the hundreds of thousands of Bangladeshi migrant workers have experienced joblessness, food scarcity, an undocumented situation, detention and deportation at destinations while many others faced xenophobic backlash on return home amid COVID-19 pandemic.
With no earnings, many Bangladeshi migrants fell into debt bondage and a bleak situation on return home from abroad, according to migrant rights activists.
Over 13 million of migrant workers of Bangladesh scattered across the world, were mostly employed in the Middle East countries hit hard by the pandemic forcing many of them to return home penniless, they said. ....
