Uninsured driver leads police on erratic 20-mile chase to Grimsby park
Police used tactical methods to bring the car to a stop at the park, being used by walkers at the time
An uninsured driver led police on a high speed, 20-minute pursuit through Immingham and Grimsby.
George Burchell, 31, of Laburnum Avenue, Grimsby drove onto the grass at Grant Thorold park, Grimsby where people were walking to try to evade capture.
At Grimsby Crown Court he admitted dangerous driving and failing to stop for police as well as driving with no insurance.
Burchell provided a roadside test when he was eventually caught which showed positive traces for cocaine. ....

Minister of Mental Health and Addictions Sheila Malcolmson said today the deaths were an “insidious impact of the pandemic,” wiping out progress made in 2019.
But advocates and experts say the province’s small, slow steps to address the crisis, even after the potential impacts of the pandemic on overdose deaths became clear, are a slap in the face to the families and friends of the 6,733 people who have died since 2016.
“We have had years to get ahead of this,” said peer advisor Guy Felicella of the BC Centre on Substance Use. “COVID showed how fragile what we had in place already really was.” ....

BC Claims 'Mental Well-Being' Is Taught in Schools. Students Don't See It


And federal COVID-19 relief in 2020 included $1.33 million in mental health funding for B.C. schools.
School districts received a total of $3.75 million from the province this school year for mental health, including staff training, developing new teaching resources, family information nights and student workshops.
After the pandemic funding was announced, Gill waited to see what mental health programs would be introduced in her school.
But she didn’t see any changes, she said. And despite the inclusion of “mental well-being” in B.C.’s physical and health education curriculum, Gill does not recall ever receiving a lesson on mental health. ....
