Coota Girls Aboriginal Corporation has produced a short film, titled Walking Our Songlines, for truth telling and education, and to inspire Stolen Generations Survivors, their families, and communities.
The film will be launched on Gadigal Country, Sydney on Thursday 29 April 2021.
This important new educational resource features four Coota Girls’ descendants sharing their stories of connection and culture, and how this is critically important to their healing from the impacts of forced removals on the families and communities of the Stolen Generations.
Walking Our Songlines captures the history of forced removals and institutionalisation of former residents of the Cootamundra Domestic Training Home for Aboriginal Girls Home (1912-1969). ....

Lawyers who are considering moving to the country, but are worried that their legal careers may take a hit, should learn from those who are thriving as police prosecutors in regional areas, writes Stefanie Costi.
Sergeant Jason Tozer was coming to the end of his one-year term as an associate to Magistrate Campbell in the ACT Magistrates Court in 2009. Unsure of where his career was headed next, Mr Tozer recalled a conversation he overheard while working as a paralegal at the ACT Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. “A new prosecutor had just started and I heard some of the staff talking about him,” Mr Tozer recollected. “I heard one of them say ‘I think he used to be a police prosecutor’”. ....

Bob Holder is Australia s oldest cowboy - and possibly the world s.
The drover s son, who hails from the Riverina, south western NSW, turns 90 in July and has been riding on the professional rodeo circuit for 76 years.
He began riding in 1936 when he was five, and since taking out his first rodeo at the age of 14, he hasn t looked back.

ANZ to close 15 regional branches

The major bank has announced the closure of 15 regional branches, citing customer shift away from branches and into remote banking.
ANZ has said that it will shut down 15 branches in regional Australia in NSW, Victoria and Western Australia, between June and October 2021.
According to the Finance Sector Union (FSU), since January 2020, ANZ has announced the closure of 146 branches.
The union said that branch closure locations include:
NSW: Forster, Cooma, Ulladulla, Salamander Bay, Casino, Cowra, Cootamundra, Leeton and Kempsey;
Victoria: Bacchus Marsh and Lakes Entrance; and
Western Australia: Wongan Hills, Bassendean, Baldivis and Beverley. ....
