Earlier this month, Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) urged Office of Management and Budget director nominee Neera Tanden to support extending a federal program that speeds up infrastructure permitting.
To the surprise of some observers and advocates, Tanden agreed. Yes, senator you are absolutely right, she said during one of her confirmation hearings. This has been a very successful program a 60% reduction in time for permitting since 2016. ....

In the weeks following his inauguration, President Joe Biden has embarked on one of the largest economic recovery efforts in U.S. history. Central to this recovery will be an investment in major infrastructure buildouts, including transit, passenger rail, electricity grids, wind turbines, and much more. If the Biden administration is to successfully “Build Back Better,” however, it will have to address one of the largest environmental rollbacks in U.S. history the Trump administration’s gutting of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).

The moves made addressing climate change a national priority on par with battling the pandemic and revitalizing the economy.
