Islamabad: Islamabad s all government hospitals have halted the scheduled surgeries to ensure continuous supply of medical oxygen to coronavirus patients.
According to officials, surgical procedures have been halted at the CDA Hospital, National Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, Government Services Hospital, and Polyclinic, to handle any oxygen shortages for COVID-19 patients.
The capital s administration said the scheduled surgeries would remain suspended until further notice.
Currently, 151 patients are in PIMS s coronavirus ward, 11 in the emergency, and seven on ventilators.
All ventilators at the Polyclinic have been occupied, while 28 patients are undergoing treatment at its COVID-19 ward. ....

Over 2,000 health workers get anti-Covid jabs in ICT

ISLAMABAD:
At least 2,239 frontline public health workers in Islamabad have been vaccinated against the novel coronavirus disease (Covid-19) so far, while 8,726 have been registered for inoculation at government expenses.
Among the 8,726 frontline health workers, 3,751 are scheduled to be vaccinated next week.
According to data available with The Express Tribune, 261 out of 914 frontline health workers registered for the corona vaccine at the CDA Hospital in Islamabad have been vaccinated against the Covid-19.
Similarly, at the federal capital’s largest tertiary healthcare hospital, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) 725 out of 1,989 frontline health workers have received anti-Covid injections. ....

Each year, the UN observes international days to create awareness on `issues of concern’. The issue of self determination for the Kashmiri in prison and creation of Palestinian State as per UN resolution is never an international day. The avowed aim of observing such days is to `mobilize political will and resources to address global problems and to celebrate and reinforce achievements of humanity.
The people who generally participate in such days and are in media limelight generally hail from the elite stratum of society (foto shoots, Face book and Twitter displays, sumptuous dinners).
One reason why the laity stays aloof is the conviction that the elitist marches and rallies would evolve no concrete programme to ameliorate lot of the common man. . For instance, coronary patients can’t be cured simply through  brisk walks and riding bikes in vanishing forests, roads being dangerous. Education is a complex issue and it can’t be improved without ....
