Another 425 Stranded Nigerians Return From Saudi Arabia


Those who returned today did so via Saudi Air Flight B773, arriving at about 1pm local time.
NIDCOM says they will join other returnees that arrived earlier and are currently undergoing quarantine at the Federal Capital Territory Hajj camp for 14 days in line with the reversed COVID-19 protocols by the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19.

Nigeria receives 802 returnees from Saudi Arabia

The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that 802 Nigerians will be evacuated from Saudi Arabia on Thursday and Friday.
A statement by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Gabriel Aduda, said the returnees would be conveyed by the Saudi Arabian airline.
They are expected to arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport on Thursday (today) and Friday (tomorrow).
The ministry, however, said in strict adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines, the returnees would be quarantined at the Federal Capital Territory Hajj camp for 14 days.
Last week, the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, said the evacuation of the illegal migrants was delayed due to COVID-19, just as she advised Nigerians against traveling without proper documents ....

It’s becoming alarmingly worrisome as more Nigerians are being deported for diverse acts overseas. By the time you are ready this, hopefully, some Nigerians in Saudi Arabia detained in detention centres would have arrived in the country. A video went viral recently showing some Nigerians in Saudi Arabia in a dehumanising state.  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that that 802 Nigerians would return  from the country between Thursday and Friday. The citizens, held at various detention centres over migration issues, would be received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, by officials of the ministry. As expected amid the raging pandemic, the returnees would be quarantined at the Federal Capital Territory Hajj camp for 14 days in line with the COVID-19 protocols. ....
