Political leaders are promising that mass vaccination campaigns will see life return to normal, as a more contagious variant of the coronavirus spreads across dozens of countries, adding urgency to the race to end the pandemic.
But vaccination efforts are rolling out slower than promised, raising doubts about an imminent way out of the crisis.
In nations where vaccines have been authorized, criticism is mounting over shortages and delays to getting shots into people s arms. And solutions devised to stretch supplies from administering half doses to spreading out the time between two doses have raised concerns from some experts. ....

Joyce and Jack Fish are anxious to be vaccinated so they can visit their new great-grandchild.
Wendy Walsh has gone from frustrated to angry about the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine in Florida. She wants her mom protected, fearing that if the 92-year-old gets the virus, it s essentially a death sentence.
It s like a ticking time bomb you re just waiting, Walsh told CNN.
Her mom, Marie Schreiner, lives in an assisted living facility in the Tampa area that recently went into lockdown because of a Covid-19 case. Walsh says she has made hundreds of phone calls to government agencies seeking information about how to get the vaccine but has gotten nowhere. ....

President-elect Joe Biden plans to release all available coronavirus vaccine doses when he takes office on January 20, CNN reported. 
The Trump administration is currently holding back half the supply to guarantee there will be enough for two shots per person.
But some public-health experts say the US could be more generous with the current supply, since vaccine production is unlikely to grind to a halt. ....
