Majority Leader Warns: No Breach Of Protocol On SONA Day

Majority Leader in Parliament Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has cautioned that the House will not entertain any breach of protocol next Tuesday, March 9, 2021, when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo delivers a message on the State of the Nation.
The scheduled delivery by the President is in accordance with Article67 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, which states that “the President shall at the beginning of each session of Parliament and before dissolution of Parliament deliver a message on the State of the Nation.”
This address – the first in his second term – is expected to deal with what the Government would be doing to build on its achievements in the first term, and to rally the support of Ghanaians in nation building efforts in the second term of the Akufo-Addo led Government. ....

Circular Debt Expected to Increase Till June 2021
The Additional Secretary Power Division (M/o Energy) informed the Committee about the sector-wise circular debt.
He presented the numbers of current circular debt up to December 2020 and expected increase till June 2021, which were Rs. 2,303 billion and Rs. 2,587 billion, respectively. The Committee expressed its grave concern about increasing circular debt and directed the Power Division to furnish a comprehensive draft for controlling the increase in circular debt before submission to Cabinet.

The Committee members were of the view that an increase in circular debt will create significant problems for the economy of the country, especially towards the smooth functioning of the industries. The Committee noted the increased flow of circular debt at Rs. 55 billion monthly and declared an alarming situation for the country. ....
