The family of Jacob Blake is calling for the city of Kenosha, Wisconsin, to apologize for not warning them of police officer Rusten Sheskey s return to full duty. Sheskey is the officer who shot Jacob Blake in the back when he ignored commands and was armed with a knife last summer, which sparked multiple riots in the city.
Kenosha police were called to a domestic incident by a female caller who had previously accused him of sexual assault, saying he was not allowed to be near her and he had stolen her car keys.
Blake s family is also calling for Sheskey to be fired. A small number of BLM protesters gathered at the Kenosha police department on Sunday to issue their demands. They held a sit-in right outside the main entrance to the police station. ....

According to REVOLT, Sheskey was responding to a domestic call during a birthday party last August, which was placed by the mother of three of Blake’s children, for one of their sons. In a “Good Morning America” interview, Blake told Michael Strahan that no officer spoke to him or told him they had a warrant for his arrest, and instead grabbed him and slammed him against his car as his children watched from inside. He would then be shot in front of them as he tried to get back into the car. The shooting left Blake paralyzed from the waist down. He’s since filed a lawsuit against Sheskey in March 2021, according to NPR. ....

Kenosha, Wis., police said Tuesday that Rusten Sheskey, the police officer who shot Jacob Blake last summer, has been found to have acted within the law and department policy.
In August, Sheskey fired seven shots at close range at the back of Blake, a Black man, as Blake walked away from the officer and toward a parked vehicle where two of his young children were sitting. Six of those shots struck Blake, who was left paralyzed. The shooting touched off major protests in the Wisconsin city. ....
