City of Cambridge offices, libraries and senior centers will be closed, and payments will not be required at city of Cambridge parking meters and parking meter pay stations for Memorial Day, May 31.  
The city s COVID-19 testing site at 50 Church St. will be closed Memorial Day. Additional information about testing and locations can be found at www.cambridgema.gov/testing.  
Curbside collection of trash, recycling, compost and yard waste will be suspended and will be one day behind for the remainder of the week. Street cleaning will not occur May 31.    ....

Cambridge’s Henry Van Brunt House, known as a prime example of Queen Anne Victorian and Stick-style architecture, has hit the market for $14,950,000.
Located at 167 Brattle St. in one of Cambridge’s most desirable neighborhoods outside Harvard Square, the 8,021-square-foot home is as grand in history as it is in style. Architect Henry Van Brunt designed the five-bedroom, nine-bath home to be his own residence in 1883. Van Brunt was known for his work on several landmarks, including Memorial and Weld halls at Harvard University and First Church of Boston in the Back Bay. ....

James ‘Jim’ Hocking
James ‘Jim’ Hocking was born in Nambour as the second child of William and Eva Hocking’s five children. When war was declared in 1939, three Hocking boys were ready to sign up. As soon as Jim turned 18, he enlisted with the Citizens Military Forces before being discharged after four months to take up acceptance in the Royal Australian Air Force in 1942.
He was sent to England to train on the heavy bombers of the RAF during World War Two. On July 28, 1944, the 21-year-old RAAF pilot was flying a Stirling Bomber or “flying coffin” during a final training run before heading into battle. ....
