Five fresh COVID-19 deaths in Noida, 3 in Ghaziabad
Five more people succumbed to COVID-19 in Uttar Pradesh s Gautam Buddh Nagar, pushing its death toll to 428, while another three fatalities raised neighbouring Ghaziabad s count to 424 on Wednesday, official data showed.
Together, the two western UP districts adjoining Delhi have a death toll of 852, according to data released by the state s Health Department for a 24-hour period.
In terms of new cases, Gautam Buddh Nagar recorded 150 more infections during the period. The district now has an overall case tally of 62,001 and 2,398 active cases, it showed. Ghaziabad logged 228 new cases with its tally reaching 54,583 o ....

More children infected in second wave, but no need for panic: Experts


More children are testing positive in the second Covid wave but the infection is mostly mild and the mortality rate low, say experts, citing increased testing and enhanced understanding of symptoms as among the possible reasons for the rising graph.
Though there is enough anecdotal evidence of COVID-19 catching children early teens and younger there is little reason to panic, said several doctors and scientists. They also stressed on the urgent need to vaccinate children to stem the spread of the infection.
There is a general increase or shift in infection numbers towards children and younger groups as compared to older people, agreed virologist Upasana Ray. ....
