What Is Renewable Energy Replacing for Industry?

May 25 2021
As countries around the world strive to comply with their environmental obligations and contribute towards reducing global warming to a maximum increase of 2°C, it falls to industry to bear the brunt of the challenge. That’s because the top 100 companies in the world are responsible for emitting 71% of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, so it’s logical that they must transition towards a greener tomorrow.
A large part of that transition will involve implementing sustainable carbon capture and storage technology, but also phasing out the highly polluting methods of energy generation upon which most industrial users currently rely in favour of cleaner forms of energy generation. But while the costs involved with renewables have fallen in tandem with their associated benefits increasing, it will still take a monumental effort for industry to fall into line. Here are the traditional fossil fuels that renewables will replace – and a sugges ....

State to take call on Class XII boards after cyclone blows over | Bhubaneswar News

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha government has told the Centre that any decision on conducting Class XII board exams would be taken after the state gets over the threat of an impending cyclone. The message was conveyed during a high-level meeting chaired by defence minister Rajnath Singh and attended by state education ministers and secretaries.
The Centre has given two proposals to the state government regarding conducting the Class XII board exams, including holding the exams after the Covid situation improves or to conduct exams on few subjects by reducing the time period from three hours to 90 minutes.
“We feel it is important to maintain uniformity in the examination pattern for Class XII boards as it is very crucial for the career of students. They need their results for admission in higher and technical education institutes. Since the state is busy ensuring preparedness for the impending cyclone, we will take the decision after it blows over,” said school and mass edu ....

Why Should Industry Use Renewable Energy?

May 21 2021
More than five years ago, all of the nations of the world convened in Paris and agreed to limit global warming by an absolute maximum of 2°C and by a preferred threshold of 1.5°C. While that latter target is now looking extremely unattainable, it will still be possible to curb our emissions enough to meet the former – but it will take a concerted effort from everyone to achieve it.
However, the fact that a mere 100 companies on the planet are responsible for over two-thirds of its greenhouse gas emissions highlights how much of a responsibility industry has in this area. Implementing sustainable carbon capture and storage technology on existing power plants and industrial facilities will be one key method of reducing emissions, but a transition to renewables will become a necessary requirement rather than a desirable luxury in the coming years. Here’s why. ....

What Are the Benefits of Renewable Energy for Industrial Users?

May 23 2021
As the world wakes up to the imminent climate crisis facing it, there is an increasing onus on industrial companies to clean up their environmental acts and limit the amount of greenhouse gases they emit. Installing sustainable carbon capture and storage technology is one way to improve their environmental performance, but transitioning to renewable energy will form another key facet of the strategy aimed at achieving a greener tomorrow.
However, adopting renewables doesn’t just make sense in terms of helping the environment and complying with national and international legislation on the issue. It also holds a raft of other benefits which any forward-thinking company would be well advised to take heed of when planning their business policy for the years ahead. Here are a handful of the advantages that switching to renewables would bring to any company operating in any industry. ....

THE ISSUE:
THE STAKES:

For so many reasons, America needs a full and frank study of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. For one reason above all others congressional Republicans’ blind loyalty to the leader of that insurrection that may not happen.
It’s little surprise, of course, that a party so in the thrall of former president Donald Trump that it twice gave him a pass on impeachable betrayals of his oath of office would do all it could to stymie any effort to shed light on the insurrection he incited in a last-ditch attempt to hold on to power. ....
