Boone County Health Department says 'no plans for health order' after new CDC guidance

Boone and Cole Counties plant trees for bicentennial celebrations


COLUMBIA - Both Boone and Cole Counties celebrated National Arbor Day with tree plantings and dedications on Friday.
The two counties held their respective events as a part of their bicentennial celebrations, which Cole County celebrated in 2020, and Boone County s Columbia will celebrate this June.
The following groups donated a tree outside of the Cole County Courthouse:
The Jane Rudolph Jefferson Daughters of the American Revolution
The Christopher Casey Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution 
The Camp Lillie Sons of the union Veterans 
Sam Bushman, Cole County Presiding Commissioner, says these trees serve as a symbol of strength for Cole County. ....

Some rural health departments: "Please don't call," no COVID-19 vaccine doses available


OSAGE COUNTY - Phones at the Osage County Health Department began ringing more frequently last Thursday.
Governor Mike Parson had just announced the state activated Phase 1B of the COVID-19 vaccination plan, allowing Missourians 65-years-old and up to get in line.
Please do not call the health department to ask was the message from administrator Susan Long on the department s Facebook page. Osage is one of five counties in mid-Missouri to not receive any doses, 38 days after the first vaccinations were administered in the region.
Other services cut to handle call volume
Hundreds of people call the Cooper County Health Department each week to find out if they re able to get vaccinated yet, putting a strain on staff doing contact tracing on top of their normal pre-pandemic responsibilities, according to administrator Melanie Hutton. ....
