North Penn grads hope CBD business helps customers 'Thrive'


A pair of North Penn High School alumni have started a business they hope will help improve health across the region and beyond. 
And the company s name is no accident, because the goal of Thrive Flower is to make sure customers do exactly that: thrive. 
If they re dealing with pain, inflammation, anxiety, or sleep, those are the four big things that CBD can help out with, said co-founder Jake Wolff.

When people come up to us at live events, they ll ask about CBD, whether they ve had it before or just want to try it out. Our goal is to find out exactly how it can work for them, he said. ....

A national survey reveals first responders are struggling with mental health issues during the pandemic.

First responders reveal they are shouldering tremendous stress, especially due to the unique demands of the past year, and say they could use more positive support, according to a new, in-depth nationwide survey now underway.
The National Wellness Survey for Public Safety Personnel, which originated in Virginia and was first reported here by Changing America, received feedback from 5,000 first responders from 26 public safety agencies across the state, some of whom courageously spoke about struggles with PTSD and contemplation of suicide due to the trauma-filled demands of their jobs. Now public safety agencies from all across the U.S. are also participating in the survey, which includes responses from all branches of public safety. ....

For weeks after the Capitol siege, a psychologist worked with D.C. police to process their trauma.
Dr. Beverly Anderson led daily debriefings so officers could put words to what they saw and felt. 
Regular visits with trusted, independent mental health providers should be as routine as seeing the dentist, experts say.
As a mob stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, Washington, D.C. s lead police psychologist briefly considered dashing to the scene. After all, it s something Dr. Beverly Anderson has done countless times before.
Instead, she spent much of the afternoon at the bedsides of dozens of officers wounded in the melee, then drove around town with some of the police union guys, just showing her face to remind everybody that she s there and she s an asset, one D.C. officer recalled. ....
