On Wednesday, July 7, Gov. Greg Abbott announced the agenda for the special legislature session – and many Texas lawmakers expressed their thoughts on Twitter. 
The 11-item agenda includes many hot-button issues, such as the voting restriction bill, critical race theory, and prohibiting transgender children from competing in school sports teams that correspond with their gender identity. 
The special session isn t a surprise, as the legislation ended dramatically in May after House Democrats staged a walkout to kill a final vote for the election bill. That action led to Abbott to then veto funding for the legislative branch. ....

Voto Latino Foundation Kicks Off National Week of Action To Promote COVID-19 Vaccine Education and Access Among Latinx Communities

WASHINGTON, June 9, 2021 /PRNewswire/ This week Voto Latino Foundation, the nation s largest Latinx voter registration organization, announced that it will be hosting a National Week of Action, from June 6 to June 12, to promote COVID-19 vaccine education and encourage communities of color, particularly hard-to-reach and vaccine-hesitant Latinx populations, to get vaccinated.

A year after George Floyd’s murder and the worldwide protests it sparked, more than half of US states have passed reform bills, altering policies like use of force, creating new rules about tracking misconduct, and mandating officer interventions during aggressive encounters. Major cities even made moves to aggressively reimagine policing.
