Barron Road in Groveland Township to close April 12-Nov. 5 for gravel road paving project


The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) expects to close Barron Road from Grange Hall Road to Groveland Road in Groveland Township beginning April 12 through approximately Nov. 5 for a gravel-road paving project. During the closure, access to homes and businesses will be maintained. The detour for through traffic will be Groveland Road to Jossman Road to Grange Hall Road, back to Barron Road and vice versa. The approximately $5.5-million project is mostly federally funded, with the remaining portion shared by RCOC, Groveland Township and Oakland County general government (through the Tri-Party program. Identity theft in Fenton
On Wednesday March 24, a Genesee County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the 13000 block of Stonybrook Pass in Fenton Township for an identity theft report. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the victim, a 50-year-old Fenton Township man. He said he received a letter from the State of Michigan reference unemployment insurance. He said he has never applied for unemployment. This incident remains under investigation and was turned over to the State of Michigan for review.

On Friday March 26, a Genesee County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to The Landings in Fenton Township for a larceny complaint. Upon arrival, the deputy met with the property developer who said he was notified by a resident that a suspicious vehicle was near his job site earlier that morning. A working farm that has been in the hands of one of Springboro’s original founding families for five generations is envisioned to become a $265 million mixed-use development in the middle of the city.
Two developers want to build a development on the Easton Farm, a 105-acre parcel of land on the west side of North Main Street/Ohio 741, that would include a commercial district, parks, walking/biking paths, multi-family housing, an independent living center, townhomes and single-family homes.
Dillin LLC, a Springboro-based development company, and Borror, a Columbus-based developer specializing in multi-family properties, have submitted an application for the rezoning of the land that sits between Anna Drive and Tamarack Trail. ....

A Beavercreek-based defense contractor is in full hiring mode, with ever-increasing work at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base driving demand for qualified workers.
Alion Science & Technology Corp. had 104 job openings for work related to Wright-Patterson as of Monday.
Eric C. Wright, vice president of operations for Alion and the site lead for the company’s Beavercreek offices off Grange Hall Road, said contracts with the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, the Air Force Research Laboratory, the National Air and Space Intelligence Center and the Air Force Institute of Technology, (among others) are driving the local growth. ....
