With graduation about two months away, Connecticut colleges and universities are planning for multiple in-person, outdoor commencement ceremonies, instead of last year’s online-only events. But while the new plans aim to provide some level of normalcy, higher education leaders in the state say students and families should not expect a complete return to pre-coronavirus campus life next fall. ....

Subway’s new CEO is moving some corporate staff to an office in the Miami-area where he lives, raising questions about the company’s Milford headquarters.
Subway confirmed it will move an unspecified number of Milford staff south, including managers in marketing, culinary and global strategy. A company spokesperson told Hearst Connecticut Media that “less than 10 percent of Milford employees” are being affected in the moves, without providing a precise number. ....

I write concerning HB-6425, An Act Concerning Aid in Dying for Terminally Ill Patients.
The Connecticut legislature will soon be voting on a humane and badly needed bill that offers an option for patients diagnosed as terminally ill with a life expectancy of six months or less. A patient may ask his or her doctor to prescribe life-ending medication that may be ingested to end suffering, if and when the patient chooses. Modeled on legislation that has been effective in Oregon for 23 years, the bill provides protection for patients and doctors who decide to participate. Nine states and Washington D.C. have similar laws. There has been no evidence of violations, abuse or undesirable expansion and no adverse impact on end-of-life care as a result. ....
