Relief over the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines in the U.S. quickly curdled into frustration over supply shortages, delivery problems, and unequal distribution.
But one group has gotten a head start in receiving the coveted shots: people who’ve donated money to hospitals distributing the vaccine.
Hospitals from coast to coast have offered their wealthy contributors early access to vaccines, prompting at least one investigation by state health authorities.
In Topeka, Kansas, members of Stormont Vail Health’s board of directors and a separate fundraising board got vaccine shots during the first phase of the state’s rollout when vaccinations were supposed to go to nursing home residents and health-care workers, local media outlet KCUR reported. ....

The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy’s High Performers recognition is given to organizations in the top 25 percent in net fundraising revenue for fiscal year 2019, which is calculated by subtracting total fundraising expenses from gross revenue production. ....

The Beebe Medical Foundation was recently honored for its responsible fundraising by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, for the second straight year.
The Association for Healthcare Philanthropyâs High Performers recognition is given to organizations in the top 25 percent in net fundraising revenue for the 2019 fiscal year, which is calculated by subtracting total fundraising expenses from gross revenue production.
âThis award and recognition are not for the Foundation but our donors,â said Tom Protack, president of the Beebe Medical Foundation. âBeing named a top performer reflects the great trust and investment our supporters have for Beebe Healthcare, and their strong and loyal support.
