ND lawmakers may be able to move up redistricting effort

It appears state lawmakers will be able to start working on redistricting earlier than thought.
Census figures from North Dakota were not going to be available until the end of September. But now, it appears the data the Legislature needs for redrawing district boundaries will be available August 16
th.
Grand Forks Republican State Senator Ray Holmberg chairs the Legislative Management Committee that will appoint the special redistricting committee.  “They could meet easily in August and have for example training and open hearings.”
Legislative leaders had said the special redistricting session may have to be held in December.  But Holmberg says getting the Census information earlier could mean it would be held in November. ....

SALT LAKE CITY Less than two weeks into the 2021 general session of the Utah Legislature, state lawmakers answered the question that some years has been debated into the waning days of their work: How much would they appropriate to public education?
The matter was resolved with the passage of SB1 on Jan. 28. That base budget included more than $400 million in new education funding, a 6% increase to the value of the weighted pupil unit, which is the building block of education funding in Utah, and funding for enrollment growth and inflation. ....
