County to Consider Applying for Development Grant for Small Business Pandemic Relief

SWEETWATER COUNTY The Sweetwater County Commissioners will consider approval Tuesday for the county to apply for the Wyoming Business Council for a Rural Development Grant to assist small businesses in recovering from the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.
If approved, the grant award would be used to assist small businesses in Sweetwater County recover from the pandemic by providing consulting sessions and a webinar in collaboration with “Entrepreneurial Communities”. The project would be led by consultant Mo Collins, who would provide “short-term, high-impact” consulting sessions.
According to the Commissioners’ meeting agenda and packet, the project also includes developing a “business community assessment” that could identify future courses of action to strengthen economic development in Sweetwater County. ....

$82.8M paid to Endurance Fund applicants

(Wyoming) – The Wyoming Business Council announced today that all CARES Act dollars allocated to the Endurance Fund have been fully expended, dedicated to paying applications from entities that did not previously receive COVID-19 Business Relief Program (BRP) awards.Â Â
Atotal of 981 Wyoming businesses and nonprofits were paid $82.8 million from the Endurance Fund.The remaining applications in the queue are not able to be funded, and applicants have been notified via email.

The Endurance Fund opened on Nov. 2 with $24 million allocated in unspent dollars from previous funds administered by the Business Council (Interruption, Relief, and Mitigation). The application period closed on Nov. 18 with 2,197 eligible businesses and nonprofits submitting applications for $215.7 million in requests. ....

The latest in Wyoming’s series of COVID-19 relief programs aims to extend some charity to charities.
Governor Mark Gordon has announced that over $12 million dollars have been made available to nonprofit organizations thru the Community Charitable Relief Program. But, unlike previous programs, this one will be decided and distributed on a local level.
The other COVID-19 relief programs – such as the Agriculture, Endurance, and Mitigation funds – saw agencies submit an application to the Wyoming Business Council. While these programs have been successful in aiding Wyoming businesses, Governor Gordon has something different in mind for the latest program. ....
