New Maxwell exhibitions examine work of two photographers


During a recent exhibitions design class taught by professor Devorah Romanek, curator of exhibits at the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology at The University of New Mexico, the works of two photographers who chronicled life in New Mexico captured the interest of two graduate students. The class projects, online exhibitions by Katie Conley and Paloma Lopez, are now available on the Maxwell website. They highlight the work of American photographers John Collier Jr. and Charles Fletcher Lummis.
The Maxwell has been presenting online exhibitions and other content since the beginning of the pandemic shutdown in 2020.

Collaboration across the collecting sectors


This lecture examines opportunities for better collaboration between museums, archives and libraries. It will cover:
How improved collaboration (especially in discovery services and data exchange) can deliver significant benefits to collecting institutions users;
Some of the models and standards that support collaboration; and
The National Library s new discovery service, Trove, and how it will help improve collaboration.
Introduction
Today I will discuss the opportunities for collaboration among the different sectors that constitute Australia’s collecting institutions: in other words, collaboration among the GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) sectors.
