Description
The recently developed Course on Advocacy for Protection presents the key elements for supporting the transformation of policies, services and public perceptions of refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), stateless people and migrants. Rwanda Bridge Builders sound SOS on plight of Rwandan refugees in Malawi

Write open letter to President Chakwera appealing for consideration
Rwandan nationals living in Malawi have written President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, appealing for his intervention in addressing the plight of the refugees who have been ordered to close their small income generating activities and return to the refugee camp.
Trading under the banner of Rwanda Bridge Builders, the Rwandese say the decision by the Malawi Government to relocate them to Dzaleka Refugee Camp has sent shivers in their spines as they fear that this could be part of the plan of the Rwandan Government to destabilize the well settled Rwandan refugees in Malawi. ....

General background
Niger is located in a geopolitical sensitive area in Africa: linking the Sahara desert with the Sahel, as well as West with Central Africa. This land-locked country not only accommodates a large number of refugees from neighboring countries but is also a major transit hub for migratory movements northwards to Algeria, Libya and the shores of the Mediterranean Sea toward the European Union (EU). As Niger is signatory of the treaty of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and its protocols, citizens of most neighboring countries enjoy freedom of entry and movement within the country.
Although there is no reliable statistical data, it is estimated that more than 60 percent of all migrants crossing through Libya and then Central Mediterranean transit through Niger, with Agadez being the main stop over on the migrants route, followed by Dirkou on the road to Sebha in Libya and Arlit on the road to Tamanrasset in Algeria. In fact, following th ....

Refoulement, Rohingya and a Refugee Policy for India

Refoulement, Rohingya and a Refugee Policy for India
India may continue to take cover under the fact that it is not a signatory to the 1951 Refugee Convention of the UN. But, at a time when it seeks to be a major global power, it cannot shy away from the humanitarian responsibility.

On March 31, 2021, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) issued a statement calling all countries neighbouring Myanmar to offer refuge and protection to all those fleeing the country for their safety. This came in response to the escalation in violence towards protestors in Myanmar since the coup led by the Myanmar military overthrew the democratically elected government. ....
