A team of researchers from the United States and China has made a breakthrough that has some ethicists concerned. The scientists successfully created embryos that are a mix of human and monkey cells. They hope the mixed-species embryos, which are known as chimeras, can be used to grow organs for people who need a transplant.
These chimeric approaches could be really very useful for advancing biomedical research not just at the very earliest stage of life, but also the latest stage of life,  
In the United States, over 110,000 people are currently on the waiting list for a life-saving organ transplant, and a new person is added to the list every ten minutes. More than 8,000 people die every year waiting for an organ. ....

U.S. Investing $1.7 Billion To Track Coronavirus Variants | PowerTalk 1460 AM & 101.1 FM


To help scientists better understand the variants, the CDC and state health departments will receive $1 billion to improve their ability to identify new variants and track their prevalence in local communities. The government will also spend $400 million to create partnerships with six universities to fuel cutting-edge research into genomic epidemiology.
The final $300 million will go towards building a unified system for sharing and analyzing sequence data, allowing scientists and researchers to better share what they learn about the coronavirus.

Busch is looking to improve its Dog Brew, which sold out within 24-hours when the alcohol-free bone broth launched last year.
The beer maker said the position is serious, and the lucky dog will have important responsibilities that include taste-testing and creating viral content on social media.

Dr. Fauci: Johnson & Johnson Vaccine Pause Will Last 'Days To Weeks' | PowerTalk 1460 AM & 101.1 FM

Dr. Anthony Fauci addressed the decision by federal health authorities to call for a pause on the coronavirus vaccine developed by Johnson & Johnson during an interview on 
TODAY. Dr. Fauci said that the decision was made out of an abundance of caution.
The FDA and CDC issued a joint statement on Tuesday (April 13) recommending states temporarily halt administering the Johnson & Johnson single-shot vaccine after six women developed blood clots less than two weeks after getting inoculated. One of the women died, and another remains in critical condition.
Dr. Fauci reassured people who have already received the vaccine. ....
