Ex Highgate musician Will Fairhead on his 'impossible tour' | Hampstead Highgate Express

"We didn't have much of a plan we were just looking to see if there were opportunities in each town, four guys turning up ready to play some rock n roll with our crew to make sure it was safe and not getting silly."
In Europe they met with bureaucracy, were kicked off busking spots due to bans on amplified sound and off campsites because they were British. But in a German forest hideaway they held a socially distanced gig, and a friend lent a derelict freezing French Chateau  where they recorded an album in exchange for clearing the land.

ONLINE: Steve Wynn & Linda Pitmon

ONLINE: Steve Wynn & Linda Pitmon
Feb 7, 2021 7:00 PM
Singer-guitarist Steve Wynn (Dream Syndicate) and drummer-singer Linda Pitmon (Zuzu's Petals) are members of The Baseball Project, and also happen to be married. The duo is in the middle of the "Impossible Tour," featuring back-to back shows from their New York City rehearsal space tailored for venues on opposite sides of the Atlantic Ocean...including a show this Sunday for Madison's own Kiki's House of Righteous Music, where Wynn and Pitmon have played various concerts in the past. Until we are able to visit Kiki's basement again, this pay-what-you-can livestream is the next best thing to being there (and actually has a bit bigger capacity via the magic of StageIt).

A transatlantic livestream on the gig poster of the week

This week's featured gig poster advertises the Chicago "stop" on Steve Wynn's Impossible Tour: a seven-week concert series that's virtually hosted by 13 music venues and broadcast by livestreaming platform StageIt. Wynn, a founding member of Los Angeles alternative-rock band the Dream Syndicate, put together a series of popular concert streams on his Facebook page last year. For his Impossible Tour, he decided to invite some of his favorite international independent venues to host dates—it's a way for him to show support for their work and to introduce his fans to venues in cities that COVID-19 may prevent them from visiting. Wynn and drummer Linda Pitmon (his wife and collaborator) will stay safe by performing live from the Chimp Factory, their rehearsal space in Queens, New York.

Area venues partnering to donate free virtual concert to students

CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. — Three area performing arts venues are partnering to donate a free virtual concert to Capital Region students.
Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Troy Savings Bank Music Hall and The School of the Performing Arts at Proctors Collaborative are bringing Black Violin into classrooms of all grade levels so students may experience artists who fuse traditional and contemporary genres while upending perceptions of what it means to be a classical musician.
Local teachers who register may stream the Impossible Tour by classical-meets-hip hop duo Black Violin for students from Feb. 22 through April 2.

Black Violin is led by classically trained string players Wil Baptiste (viola) and Kev Marcus (violin); joining them are DJ SPS and drummer Nat Stokes. The group uses a unique blend of classical and hip-hop music, often described as “classical boom,” aiming to overcome stereotypes and encourage people of all ages, races and economic backgrounds to join together to break down cultural barriers.
