Some Bay Area Health Officials Urge Employers to Consider Employee Vaccine Requirements


Santa Clara County Deputy Health Officer Dr. George Han noted that requirements for vaccination have already been upheld in court and potential litigation should not give employers pause.
This is something that even the federal government and state government have resources available to help employers who would like to require vaccination of their workforce, Han said.
Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Bob Linscheid said the business community supported employers requiring their employees to get vaccinated and argued it s crucial to businesses remaining open and keeping both workers and customers safe.
We ve been very involved in business reopening here in Walnut Creek and this entire region, Linscheid said. The only thing that s really impacted us negatively is the unvaccinated, so it s incumbent upon us, if we re going to be healthy and stay open, to get vaccinated. ....

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors is poised to approve the second tranche of Measure A funding on Tuesday $350 million for the construction of affordable housing.
In 2016, more than two-thirds of county voters approved Measure A a $950 million housing bond with the goal to create 120 new affordable housing developments over the next decade.
So far, county supervisors have allocated upward of $533 million for 34 housing developments totaling 2,969 new apartments and 618 renovated units.
Of those 34 projects, four have been completed; 217 of the 2,969 new apartments will be occupied this spring and summer; and 332 of the 618 refurbished units are occupied as well. ....

Two Bay Area counties could move into the red tier this week
San Mateo and Marin County will find out Tuesday from the state if they ll be allowed to move back into less-restrictive red tier for COVID guidelines. That would allow for some limited capacity indoor dining to return.
SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) - San Francisco announced on Tuesday that it is lifting its 10-day quarantine order for those who travel outside of the Bay Area. 
Health officials first implemented the order in December to prevent the spread of COVID, a time in which the city experienced a surge in cases from holiday travel.  ....
