A sergeant arrested a photographer and a livestreamer for trespassing while they stood on a sidewalk near the North Precinct.
Two independent journalists were labeled fake press by a Portland Police Bureau sergeant who then arrested them for trespassing while they stood on a public sidewalk, video evidence shows.
Photographer Sean Bascom, who is multi-racial but sometimes presents as white, had his camera gear released to him after less than an hour in custody inside the bureau s North Precinct on Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Amid reports that Capitol rioters included some police, no local agencies report investigations of staff.
Portland-area police agencies say they are unaware of local officers attending the D.C. rally that turned violent on Jan. 6, with a mob breaching the U.S. Capitol in what may have been an attempt to help overturn President-elect Joe Biden s electoral victory.
However, both the Portland Police Bureau and the Multnomah County Sheriff s Office did not immediately respond on Saturday, Jan. 9, to questions about whether any further investigation would take place.
It s unclear whether the U.S. Constitution s protections of political activity could complicate investigations based on mere attendance, since the event began with a standard political rally, judging by media accounts. ....

A police sergeant in Massachusetts remains in an intensive care unit as he battles COVID-19, according to his family and friends.In a Facebook post, the Norton Police Department confirmed that Det. Sgt. Stephen Desfosses is battling a coronavirus infection.Desfosses was diagnosed with COVID-19, Influenza A and pneumonia in early December, according to a GoFundMe page that was set up for him and his family.After struggling to improve at home for two weeks and feeling a serious decline in his ability to breathe, he was taken to a local emergency room. He was evaluated to be in critical condition and was then taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, where he remains in the ICU.According to an update to the GoFundMe page from his wife, Jessica, Desfosses lungs are showing no signs of improvement with severe fibrosis. A female U.S. Army sergeant didn’t hesitate to pull over to assist after a vehicle flipped off the road. Little did she know that her quick-thinking actions had saved the life of her fellow soldier.
Nigerian-born Sgt. Mary Ehiarinmwian, assigned to the 21st Theater Sustainment Command, enrolled in the U.S. Army in 2017. Three years later, she witnessed a serious road accident that put her training to the test. The brave soldier was later honored for her heroism and selflessness.
The sergeant was driving to Physical Readiness Training at Hawaii’s Schofield Barracks in June 2020 when the vehicle in front of her collided with a road sign and rolled over several times “before it pierced through the top of a security gate,” reported Army News Service. ....
