Who is Julia Christine Devlin?
Devlin, 55, was a lecturer of economics at the University of Virginia (UVA), where she had been teaching for over nine years. According to police reports, she is 5’7” tall, weighs 150 pounds and has dark blonde hair. Her LinkedIn profile details her academic and professional achievements.
Prior to her time at the UVA, she was a Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, Washington DC from 2011 to 2015. She was also an economist and a senior private sector development specialist at the World Bank. She worked in that capacity for over 14 years. She was also a visiting lecturer and a visiting assistant professor at Harvard University and Georgetown University School of Foreign Service. ....

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Governor Ralph Northam made a stop in Charlottesville Wednesday morning to sign a bill that will honor descendants of enslaved laborers.
“Oh it’s just very powerful.” That’s how Governor Ralph Northam described the moment.
“To be with the families who are descendants of enslaved Africans and to have the monument there at the University of Virginia where enslaved individuals built that university,” he said. ....

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Harrisonburg’s Zehr Institute for Reformative Justice held a webinar centered around Charlottesville Wednesday night.
It was called “Stumbling Toward Repair” and focused on the University of Virginia and Charlottesville coming to terms with the past while creating equity in the present. Jefferson School Executive Director Dr. Andrea Douglas served as one of the presenters.
“For some of us, it feels like we’ve been at it a long time, but I really honestly believe there’s a lot more time left before we can easily get to that conversation where we’re talking about reparations as a language,” Douglas said. ....
