Michaela Herwig, originally from Geneva, Illinois, has announced she will be transferring to Purdue University from the University of New Hampshire beginning in the fall.

After his career as a maintenance man and welder, Randy Meyers starting fooling around with all the motorcycle gears, industrial gauges, copper pipes and other supplies he had accumulated. Now the West Chicago man sells steampunk lamps and one-of-a-kind greenhouses and sheds.

Determined to get COVID-19 shots in young arms before the end of the school year, several suburban Chicago school districts hope to deliver vaccines to students 12 and older at school-based clinics as early as this week.
While many such vaccine sites in Cook and the collar counties have already been providing vaccines for high school students 16 and older, the expansion of eligibility to kids ages 12 to 15 arrives after the recent FDA emergency use authorization, and in anticipation of full approval on Wednesday from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. ....

A year ago, the student team from West Chicago Community High School captured the 2020 Illinois state LifeSmarts title, earning the chance to compete for the national title at an event which was subsequently postponed due to the pandemic. The rescheduled event took place virtually on April 17. West Chicago returned to battle against 23 other state champion teams for the national title and finished in seventh place. This teams best performance of the tournament was their victory over Florida 180-50. ....
