Amid a Singapore Covid-19 strain face-off, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, on Wednesday, chaired a high-level review meeting that was attended by Health Minister Satyendar Jain and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
While the Delhi government believes there is a new strain originating from Singapore that could lead to a third wave in India, the aspect of “Singapore strain” has been strongly refuted by the Singapore Government. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, too, tweeted that Delhi Chief Minister does not speak for India and that “irresponsible comments” from those who should know better can damage long-standing partnerships. ....

Bangkok, May 19 (EFE).- Singapore’s government protested Wednesday an event on the rights of the LGBT community co-organized by the United States embassy in the city-state, where homosexuality is punishable by jail.
Singapore’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a Wednesday statement that “foreign missions must not interfere in internal social and political affairs, including issues on how to address sexual orientation in public policy.”
The protest referred to a webinar held Monday, which coincided with the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, organized together with the Oogachaga group in favor of LGTB rights under the title “The economic argument for LGBT Equality: Exploring Global Trends.” ....
