Investors sinks £50m plus into London sheds | Logistics Manager


Pan-European logistics investor Valor Real Estate Partners pid more than £50 million for five separate warehouses across Greater London.
The transactions comprise: a 105,000 sq ft single unit in Weybridge, a 17,000 sq ft small-bay multi-let estate and 18,000 sq ft single-let low site cover warehouse in Canning Town, as well as a 40,000 sq ft single distribution unit in Sunbury and a 10,000 sq ft single-let unit in Park Royal.
The investor plans to refurbish the empty  properties to capitalise on the demand for well located urban warehouses in London and the South east these include the Weybridge property, which sits on a 5.24-acre site, the property in Canning Town that has a low-site cover unit which is vacant and undergoing a refurbishment program, alongside a small-bay estate currently let to a mixture of tenants. ....

City firms publish toolkit on tackling racism

Thirteen City firms have produced a handbook to help solicitors talk about racism in the workplace, including practical guidance about micro-aggressions and how to respond to racist comments.
The ‘Noticed toolkit’, written by inter-firm diversity network Noticed, aims to make it easier to have ‘meaningful conversations about how to deal with race in the workplace’. It focuses on tackling micro-aggressions; how to be an ‘effective ally’; how to start difficult conversations; and how to respond to common racist statements and actions.

HAMILTON, Ohio (FOX19) - The family of a man killed in Hamilton last week is grieving his loss as they prepare for his funeral.
Troy Simmons, 48, was hit while crossing Witt Way near Court Street. The incident occurred around 5:45 a.m. on Jan. 15, according to police.
A police report shows a 52-year-old man was driving the vehicle that hit Simmons. ....

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) commenced the present test case under the Financial Markets Test Case Scheme (the scheme) for the benefit of insurance policyholders, who held insurance policies which covered them against losses arising from interruption of business, to urgently clarify whether or not there was cover in principle under a variety of different standard insurance policies for COVID-19 related business losses. The defendants were eight insurers who were leading providers of ‘business interruption’ insurance. The aim of the proceedings was to achieve the maximum clarity possible for the maximum number of policyholders and their insurers by considering a representative sample of standard form business interruption policies. The proper interpretation of four types of clauses in particular were considered, namely; (i) ‘disease clauses’; (ii) ‘prevention of access clauses’; ....

An array of UK claimant and defendant lawyers have been assessing the impact of the Supreme Court Covid-19 business interruption insurance test case, which came to a headline-grabbing conclusion last Friday.
Lawyers acting for the for the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which led the initiative, and for the 1,000s of small businesses affected by the first lockdown who can now expect pay outs were unsurprisingly celebrating for their clients.
