GORDONSVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Orange County is kicking off its first ever restaurant week to showcase the flavors to be found around the county, featuring more than a dozen restaurants, wineries, breweries and bakeries.
At Well Hung Vineyard in Gordonsville, they say it’s a great opportunity to showcase the culinary talent around Orange, especially at a time when so many restaurants are struggling.
“We’re lucky to be part of such an inclusive community,” Well Hung Vineyard GM Janice Blanchard said. “Gordonsville is very small, and obviously a small section of Orange County. We were lucky to be invited and involved in trying to set a standard for what restaurant week could be in the future.” ....

RICHMOND, Va. (WVIR) - The General Assembly is making significant investment in expanding broadband access in Virginia.
The move comes after a full year of virtual learning showed how desperate the situation is for many families and individuals. In Albemarle County alone, there are thousands of folks that do not have reliable home broadband.
Fifty-million dollars is being poured into the Virginia Technology Initiative’s grants, and a new pilot program for those grants will allow localities to apply for them without a broadband company or internet service provider as a partner, something that had previously been required. ....

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Charlottesville Mayor Nikuyah Walkerâs spending of city funds is not under criminal investigation, according to the cityâs Commonwealthâs Attorney. However, he says the policy does need a desperate overhaul.
In a three-page letter hand-delivered to new City Manager Chip Boyles Monday, February 22, Charlottesville Commonwealthâs Attorney Joseph Platania confirms there will be no prosecutions for what had been identified as potential credit card misuse because changes to city credit card policies have not been implemented. ....
