Introduction
Science of Military Strategy (战略学,
zhanlüe xue) (SMS), a core textbook for senior PLA officers on how wars should be planned and conducted at the strategic level. This article compares the 2020 version of this book with its last revision, in 2017, and finds that the former contains new details on wartime political work, “intelligentization” concepts, China’s military strategic guidelines, major war operations, joint logistics and the People’s Armed Police. It should be a go-to reference for those seeking to understand Chinese military thinking as it is currently explained to PLA officers themselves. ....

China's J-10 comes of age with indigenous engine | In depth

By Greg Waldron2021-05-21T07:48:00+01:00
The recent appearance of an operational Chengdu J-10C powered by a domestically produced engine marks a key moment for the single-engined type in the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF).
As with so much in Chinese airpower, much of the J-10’s history is shrouded in mystery. It is understood that the type, which originated in the 1980s, traces its lineage to the J-9, a canard/delta fighter that was abandoned in 1980. It is also believed that the J-10 benefited from the 1980s Israel Aircraft Industries Lavi programme.

Hong Kong, May 5 (ANI): Methods of waging war developed rapidly in the last century, as machine guns dominated World War I, and aircraft and tanks rose to the fore in World War II. The technology of war continues to evolve, and China is among those at the forefront of seeking new ways to disable, neutralize or kill its perceived enemies.
For a couple of decades the Chinese concept of Assassin s Mace weapons was frequently referred to. This comes from the Chinese term shashoujian, a hero from ancient Chinese folklore who overcame more powerful enemies by wielding a club and attacking the enemy suddenly outside the rules. ....
