Provincial status for Gilgit Baltistan

Pakistan is set to elevate Gilgit Baltistan to provincial status. With this single move, Pakistan will be able to meet at least seven decades old demand of people of Gilgit-Baltistan to merge with main land constitutionally, secure vital geo-strategic route of China Pakistan Economic Corridor and protect tourism, promote economic potential and push farther its water and energy interests (Bunji & Diamer-Bhasha Dam etc.). However, some quarters have raised objections to the move on varying narratives which need to be addressed. All stake holders including key political parties have agreed to the proposal of grant of provisional provincial status to the Gilgit Baltistan. This historic decision will meet the long term aspirations of people and will help address local concerns and issues of representation, by all means possible. ISLAMABAD: The residents of federal Capital flocked to a special stall set up to offer “free cups of tea” to mark National Tea Day, an occasion recalling the second anniversary of Pakistan’s robust answer to an attempted Indian airstrike that ended in shooting down two Indian jets and the capturing of one pilot, Commander Abhinandan, two years ago on February 27, 2019. The unique way of paying tributes to the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on the historic achievement was eulogised by the visitors of the rendezvous. ‘Tea is fantastic’ was the most famous moment in this story, and went viral on social media, when the Indian pilot was shown in a video taking sips of hot tea and making this statement to the camera. Ready to move forward to resolve issues with India through talks: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said Pakistan has “always stood for peace” and remains ready to move forward to resolve all outstanding issues with India through dialogue as the country marked the second anniversary of Operation Swift Retort.
In a series of tweets, the Prime Minister on Saturday congratulated the nation and saluted the armed forces on the second anniversary of the country’s response to India’s “illegal, reckless military strikes” against Pakistan.
On February 26, 2019 India violated Pakistani airspace and dropped bombs on Balakot. The following day Pakistan responded and in the ensuing dogfight, downed two Indian aircraft and captured Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman, who was released shortly after as a peace gesture. ....
