The Philippines celebrates the 25th annual National Autism Consciousness Week on January 18 to 24, 2021 with activities that espouse for the greater involvement of persons on the autism spectrum in the affairs of society.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Pilipinong May Autismo: Kakaiba, Kasali, Konektado”. It intends to heighten societal awareness of the uniqueness of Filipinos with autism; their inclusive development in terms of human rights, education, employment, among others; and their achievement of individual self-awareness, self-expression and their feeling of belonging in a compassionate society.
Autism Society Philippines (ASP), the national non-profit organization with 100 chapters around the country, has lined up webinars and other online events that promote action by the public and private sectors towards enabling persons on the aut ....

The University of Montana, in honor of the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, will present a lecture via ZOOM by a prominent professor from Penn State University on Thursday, January 14.
Professor of History and Director of the African American Studies Program at the University of Montana Tobin Miller Shearer provides these details.
“We ve invited Dr. Crystal Sanders from Penn State University to come here virtually to give a lecture this year on Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights activists that we may not know as much about,” said Miller Shearer. “We had a conversation with the Black Student Union and they wanted to hear about the struggles that those asking that those African American civil rights activists face as well as their white allies during the civil rights era. And Dr. Sanders is well equipped to give us that very lecture.” ....

Doha: The Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs (QSRSN), in cooperation with the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC), organised a psychological awareness lecture entitled ‘Mental health for people with special needs and their families in light of the COVID-19 crisis’.
Hajar Al Omari, a psychologist in the Psychological Support Clinic at Al Wajba Health Center delivered the lecture virtually through Microsoft-Teams.
The lecture dealt with several aspects related to mental health, pressures and psychological problems that are expected to occur for people with disabilities and their families during the COVID-19 crisis, especially with the social distancing and isolation imposed on different societies. ....
