Several new outdoor artworks are being installed around metro Phoenix this month. Tempe Public Art commissioned Roy Wasson Valle to create a piece on a clear wall at the Tempe Center for the Arts sculpture garden, which will be visible from The Gallery at TCA and the path running along Tempe Town Lake. An installation titled
Water will be on view at Desert Botanical Garden starting on February 23. Created by Natasha Lisitsa and Daniel Schultz of Waterlily Pond Studio, the piece spans 100 feet and was made with materials that include 8,000 colored wooden dowels and 2,000 red flowering blooms. ....

.- From January 2 through April 25, 2021, Phoenix Art Museum will present a new selection of long-term loans in the exhibition Out of Print: Innovations of 19th- and 20th-Century Printmaking from the Collection of Phoenix Art Museum and the Schorr Collection. Featuring more than 50 individual works spanning 200 years by both European and American artists, the exhibition will feature some of the most revered names in art history, including Paul Cézanne, Edvard Munch, Paul Klee, Louise Nevelson, Robert Rauschenberg, and many others. New Xico Board Members
Xico Inc. has three new board members, including Jacob Moore, Maria Elena Coronado-Sutter, and Robert Booker. Moore is an associate vice president in ASU’s tribal relations office, Sutter works in grants administration and strategic development for a small business division at Chicanos Por La Causa, and Robert Booker is a former head of Arizona Commission on the Arts. Xico is working to open its new Roosevelt Row location in 2021. The date has not been announced.
Arizona Arts Budget
Every year, state agencies submit their annual budget requests to the governor’s office as part of the state’s budget process. Arizona Commission on the Arts, the state agency charged with making the arts accessible for all community members, has requested $5 million for the arts in the state’s fiscal year 2022 budget, which covers the period between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022.
