Satay is well-loved in Singapore for its intoxicating mix of sweet, salty, savoury and smoky taste thanks to the grilling of meat over charcoal to a glistening finish. There are two broad types of satay found in Singapore, a Malay/Muslim-style and a Chinese/Hainanese-style.
Both are available in a range of proteins and are accompanied by a peanut-based dipping sauce . The latter, however, can be identified from the use of pork and the addition of tangy pineapple puree in the sauce. But whichever style you’re partial to, here are 10 different satay stalls in Singapore to savour them both. ....

Slap the Michelin title onto anything and most people would naturally assume that the food by these establishments is a notch above your run of the mill eateries.

Who doesn’t love a hearty bowl of umami fish soup? It’s comforting for the tummy and soul (especially on a cool day), and is undoubtedly one of our favourite hawker dishes in Singapore.
Generally, there are two kinds of sliced fish soup available in Singapore. The Teochew-style fish soup features a light, clean broth with fish, vegetables and beancurd, accompanied with rice or bee hoon.
Then, there are the milky broths (condensed milk is usually added) that contain boiled and deep-fried slices of batang (mackerel), toman (snakehead) or pomfret and in some cases even a fried fish head. These more robust soups are typical of a Cantonese-style fish soup. ....
