Demnach gibt es zwölf Positionen im Myosin-Molekül der Herzmuskeln, an denen mit zunehmender Körpergröße einer Spezies Aminosäuren ausgetauscht werden. Werden bei einem menschlichen Beta-Myosin einige dieser Ersetzungen rückgängig gemacht, kontrahieren die Muskelfasern wieder fast so schnell wie die einer Ratte.
