13-year-old girl dies of Covid in Jamshedpur | Ranchi News

JAMSHEDPUR: The second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has claimed the life of another child in the Steel City. Undergoing treatment for Covid-19 at the Tata Main Hospital (TMH) here for nearly a week, the latest victim, a 13-year-old girl, was also suffering from jaundice. She succumbed to the viral disease on Saturday. The girl had visited the hospital for treatment of jaundice but subsequently tested positive for Covid-19. A resident of Golmuri, the girl had no travel history.
Earlier, in April, a child had died after contracting the contagious disease. The additional chief medical officer, (ACMO), Sahir Pall, said that so far, 1,932 children under 14 years were infected with Covid-19 in the state. Nearly 1,200 of them are boys and the rest are girls. ....

Covid report may be mandatory for flyers from Maha, Kerala | Ranchi News


Ranchi/Jamshedpur: Amid rising cases of Covid-19 in various parts of the country, state health officials have asked the disaster managementg department to make a negative Covid report mandatory for people coming from Maharashtra and Kerala and test travelers at all entry points of state. Meanwhile, East Singhbhum district has also increased surveillance and mandatory for passengers coming by train from Maharashtra, New Delhi and Gujarat to the Tatanagar station to get tested for Covid on arrival.
In a letter to disaster management department on Tuesday evening, state health secretary K K Soan urged the department secretary to issue necessary directives for necessary action as per rules. The letter said the request was was made to ensure that the spike in Covid cases in these states, particularly Maharashtra and Kerala, does not lead to a spurt in infections in Jharkhand. ....

Walk-in option at E Singhbhum centres to ramp up vax drive | Ranchi News


Jamshedpur: In an effort to ramp up the pace of Covid-19 vaccination drive, the East Singhbhum administration has allowed healthcare and front-line workers to walk into their nearest vaccination centre and take their jabs without waiting for their turns.
Dr Sahir Pal, the additional chief medical officer (ACMO) of East Singhbhum, said beneficiaries will have to show their ID proof at the vaccination centres and if their names are found in the database of the Co-WIN portal, they would be administered the vaccine. “The beneficiaries will not have to wait for their turns to get vaccinated,” Pal added.
Earlier, health and front-line workers were being asked to report at the vaccination sites via text messages through the Co-WIN portal. However, a low turnout forced health officials in the district to change the norms. ....

Special RT-PCR testing drive in East Singhbhum | Ranchi News

JAMSHEDPUR: The district administration has launched a special Covid-19 RT-PCR testing drive across all the 10 blocks in East Singhbhum. The drive was held in the eight rural blocks on Monday, while tests will be conducted in the remaining two blocks comprising urban and suburban areas on Wednesday.
The drive was held at the public health centres (PICs) in Baharagora, Ghatshila, Dumaria, Chakulia, Musaboni, Potka, Patamda and Dhalbhumgarh. Tests would also be conducted at the popular markets and malls in the Steel City.
“We have set a target of carrying out 6,500 tests during the drive. Of which, 4,500 would be conducted in the rural blocks and the remaining 2,000 in the urban circle,” the additional chief medical officer (ACMO), Sahir Pall, said. ....
