Print this article Former Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler asked the state s attorney general to investigate Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. The call for an investigation, made in a letter from Loeffler to Attorney General Chris Carr on Wednesday and obtained by the Washington Examiner, is the latest development in a fight between Raffensperger, who’s also a Republican, and others within his party who have found fault with how he handled the 2020 elections. The former senator, who lost her seat to Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock in a Jan. 5 runoff, accused Raffensperger of having “put his political self-interest ahead of the people of Georgia in conducting elections.” She wants Carr to investigate “whether these actions constitute a conflict of interest in violation of the Georgia Constitution and/or statues.” ....

Alternative ways Every country, every organization, every business, generally has rules about who can vote in their elections. And to ensure that these voters are authorized, and to prevent even authorized voters from voting multiple times, these countries, organizations and businesses require some sort of identification. There are even rules about who can cash a check, obtain a driverâs license, or get into the fair free (e.g., if youâre over 65 years of age). Some people have to show ID to buy a beer! But when Georgia enacted legislation to ensure voting by qualified individuals, and prevent even those people from voting more than once, the Democrats railed and started actions to punish the state. This legislation, enacted for a sensible and legal reason, is deemed racist. (It seems that most activities which sane people once accepted as sound practices are now deemed racist.) ....
