Many people already struggling with heightened stress and isolation caused by coronavirus are now getting hit with the double-whammy of seasonal affective disorder, a type of depression that typically sets in during the winter months.
âItâs like two ocean waves coming toward each other and making a double wave as they converge,â Dr. Norman Rosenthal, clinical professor of psychiatry at Georgetown University Medical School, told the Daily News.
Rosenthal wrote what many consider the definitive book on the subject, âWinter Blues: Everything You Need to Know to Beat Seasonal Affective Disorder.â ....

Remembering Dr. John Judson: ‘A true compassionate physician and friend’

Judson, 81, died Nov. 29 in UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg.
Judson was a graduate of Villanova University and Georgetown University Medical School, did his surgical residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, and later a cardiothoracic surgical residency in Salt Lake City, Utah.
His family said his “passion for medicine as a general and cardiothoracic surgeon included work in Blacksburg, Va.; the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.; Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas; Benton Harbor, Mich.; and Harrisburg.”
He volunteered at Hôpital Albert Schweitzer in Haiti where he was the medical director from 1997 to 1999. ....
