The Labor Department’s June jobs report on state unemployment found Nevada third from the bottom.
The Nevada unemployment rate was unchanged from May when it was tied for the fourth-worst in the country. Unemployment in Nevada has remained stubbornly high all year 8% in April and 8.1% in March.
Nevada set a record for the highest unemployment rate ever recorded in any state’s history during the middle of the COVID lockdown a record-breaking 29.5% in April 2020. That’s higher than in the Great Depression. ....

Nevada Democrats last August embraced the motto: “Never let a serious crisis go to waste” by enacting Assembly Bill 4, requiring official ballots be mailed to all registered voters in the state before the November election. Their stated reason: the coronavirus pandemic .
In reality, coronavirus gave Democrats a pretext to change Nevada election law in a manner not previously achievable.
AB 4 was the subject of a hastily called 32nd Special Session of the Nevada Legislature last July 30. A 100-page bill, AB 4, was introduced and swiftly passed the Assembly the following day and the Senate two days later on straight party-line votes. ....

Two townships in Douglas County change election time

Two more townships in Douglas County will be moving their elections to November. LaGrand and Osakis will now join the townships of Brandon, Carlos and Miltona in hosting elections in November instead of March.
And although voter turnout was sleepy in most districts, Millerville Township saw record breaking numbers, according to Marilyn Bitzan, Millerville Township clerk.
“It’s the largest we can remember seeing,” she said. “We had an excellent turnout (for a township election).” ....
