Bloods 10pm, Sky One Samson Kayo and Jane Horrocks star in this ambulance-racing comedy as two paramedics working in south London. With his old partner hospitalised owing to a mistake with the defibrillator pad, Maleek (Kayo) is paired up with bubbly new recruit Wendy (Horrocks), who he soon has to educate in an appropriate bedside manner when she befriends a patient. Meanwhile, team leader Jo (Lucy Punch) tries to strike up a romance with grieving widower Lawrence (Julian Barratt) during a callout to a grisly pile-up. He plays Maleek, whom we first saw accidentally electrocuting his partner with a defibrillator. Maleek is rubbish at his job, a fact he refuses to acknowledge. With one partner down, Maleek needed another one, and she arrived in the form of Wendy. If I tell you that Wendy is played by Jane Horrocks, you’ll know what to expect. She’s northern and quirky and an eternal optimist, and having her character arrive “from out of the area” means she can just do her own accent. ....
