As Janousek trips lightly down the steps of the old Mapleton school to greet me, she makes a striking first impression: tall, willowy, dressed all in black and with a sweep of red hair colored in varying hues of scarlet. With her high cheekbones and ivory skin, it’s easy to see why she is sometimes recruited by her fellow ambrotypists to model.
