Angela and Andrea Davis were against getting the COVID-19 vaccine, but a Detroit pastor helped them see past the conspiracies.
DETROIT (FOX 2) - Twin sisters Angela and Andrea were against getting the COVID-19 vaccine.
Both sisters battled the virus in January and, with the help of some people, changed their minds and got vaccinated.

(WXYZ) — There s a newly-launched campaign to increase vaccination awareness in metro Detroit among African American residents.
The effort is being led by Dr. Steve Bland Jr. of the Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit and vicinity and he s joining us to talk about it the 7 UpFront segment.

We ve taken 50 of our churches and, even though we ve done pop-up clinics in the city, we re now every week having a clinic open in every community where our churches are located all the way up and through the end of 6 weeks, that we might be able to push back against this viral spread and help people to know that they can h ....

DETROIT, MI (WXYZ) — The Council of Baptist Pastors of Detroit & Vicinity launched a #TakeTheShot campaign Thursday to increase the number of African Americans who receive the vaccine.
According to the city of Detroit, only 40% of the Black community has been vaccinated.
“What we’ve seen is multigenerational: A grandparent may be hesitant to get vaccinated and that influences everyone’s decision about the shot. Unfortunately, the result is deadly, president of the council Dr. Steve Bland Jr. said. The persons who are gravely sick and dying are primarily those who are unvaccinated.” ....

Police chief in Michigan apologizes for liking Facebook post supporting Israel


DETROIT — After facing criticism from some in the Arab American community, Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad has apologized for liking a Facebook post that showed support for Israel. In his apology, Haddad also called for a free Palestine.
Earlier this month, Haddad liked a May 11 Facebook post of a police officer in another department who had updated his profile photo with a banner that read: I Stand With Israel with an Israeli flag in a heart symbol. The banner also said AJC, which refers to the American Jewish Committee, an advocacy group that promoted the Facebook logo for advocates of Israel. ....
