US Church to Build "Tiny Houses" to Help Homeless Women - Vision Christian Radio

A South Carolina church congregation is creating a “tiny house” village to help local homeless women find shelter and community.
First Baptist Spartanburg intends to begin constructing 20 tiny houses plus a commons building next year, after they have met with local government boards in 2021.
The village is slated to be on church-owned property.
First Baptist missions minister Steve Wise has told The Christian Post, a number of factors prompted the project, including requests from local groups and the church’s intention to expand its ministry to the homeless.
The expected cost will be $US30,000 (approximately $A40,000) for each individual housing unit, and around $US200,000 (approximately $A266,000) for the commons building, which will be used for community gatherings for the homeless. ....

Christy Edwards of Boiling Springs said she can t believe Christmas is nearly here.
With the COVID-19 pandemic, a contested presidential election, and temperatures in the 60s Sunday, she said she couldn t believe Christmas was just 12 days away.
2020 has been a rough year, she said at Sunday s Oh What Fun Christmas event at First Baptist Spartanburg. It s hard to be in the spirit with everything going on.
Hundreds of people, some wearing T-shirts, others dressed in light clothing and young parents pushing strollers, came out to enjoy the tractor hayrides, petting zoo and live nativity scene Sunday evening. ....

Help honor veterans during the holidays at American Legion Post 28, 84 W. Park Drive in Spartanburg.
Join the fun Saturday, Dec. 12 for an Operation Holiday Salute Parade. Restored military vehicles, hot rods, classics, muscle, trucks, and rat rods will lead a mini Christmas parade by area nursing homes. Season s greetings decorated household vehicles are also welcome. Organizers will be dropping off gift baskets and holiday cards for veteran patients during the parade.
Registration is 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Parade starts at 1 p.m.
