Local man dies in 1-40 tanker truck accident


OZARK — A Russellville man died Wednesday when the tanker truck he was driving overturned and caught fire near Ozark on I-40.
James Rotenbury, 59, was killed when the tanker truck he was driving ran off the road after swerving to avoid a collision at the 35 mile marker on ramp.
Witnesses at the scene of the accident told police that an unknown vehicle entered I-40 from the on ramp and pulled out in front of the tanker truck, and the tanker truck tried to take a corrective action by swerving to the left, according to the Arkansas State Police report.
The truck ran off the roadway into the Northside ditch and overturned on the driver’s side. ....

The State Police have arrested a man believed involved in the fiery fatal crash of a tanker truck Wednesday morning on Interstate 40 in Ozark.
James A. Rotenbury, 59, of Russellville, the driver of the truck, died in the wreck. According to an accident report, a vehicle entered I-40 and pulled in front of a truck loaded with diesel fuel. It swerved, ran off the road, then rolled over as the driver attempted to regain control. It caught fire.
