Medical Examiner Testifies In Murder Trial Of Accused Serial Killer William Reece

OKLAHOMA COUNTY, Oklahoma -
The jury heard from the last of William Reece's living victims on the third day of his murder trial Thursday. During opening statements, the state said nine women had violent encounters with Reece, and just five made it out alive.
Reece allegedly took the witness, Carla Brzozowski, Beam at the time, and her friend, Elizabeth Dolan in from a Houston area diner in early July of 1997. Dolan testified earlier this week. Both said Reece attacked and raped them. They were 16 and 17 years old at the time.
The bulk of Thursday’s testimony came from the medical examiner who performed Tiffany Johnston’s autopsy.

The second day of William Reece's murder trial began Wednesday morning. The jury heard from two of the four women who survived encounters with Reece.
The first witness of the day, Sandra Sapaugh, is the reason Reece is serving a 60-year rape and kidnapping conviction in Texas. She was abducted in May 1997 at knifepoint. She only escaped after she jumped out of Reece's moving truck on a Texas expressway.
The second witness and her friend were taken by Reece from a Houston area diner late on July 3, 1997. They were 16 and 17 years old at the time, Reece offered them a ride home. He instead took them to his house where he attacked both and allegedly sexually assaulted the woman on the stand.

Prosecution seeking death penalty
But Oklahoma County District Judge Susan Stallings is allowing prosecutors to put on evidence linking him to three other deaths in Texas.
In an opening statement, Assistant District Attorney Ryan Stephenson told jurors Reece admitted choking Johnston in his horse trailer at the car wash after she yelled at him for spraying her.
The prosecutor said Reece confessed to raping her, too, stopping because it was too hot. He confessed to choking her with his hands and a rope after she hit him with a horseshoe.
Johnston was 19.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

Opening Statements Begin In Murder Trial Of Alleged Serial Killer

The capital murder trial officially began for alleged serial killer William Reece.
Almost 25 years after Tiffany Johnston disappeared from a Bethany carwash, and five years after DNA linked her killing to the defendant, opening statements began in William Reece's murder trial.
Prosecutors opening statements consisted of lawyers laying out a timeline of Reece's alleged victims. They named nine total with almost half murdered in 1997, the same year Johnston was killed.
The state introduced the name of the Texas Ranger, Jim Holland who they said was the only person able to crack Reece.
Holland eventually coaxed the confessions out of the defendant which led Texas law enforcement to the discovery of Kelli Cox and Jessica Cain's bodies. Reece also took responsibility for killing 12-year-old Laura Smither.

Jurors were told Tuesday they will hear murder defendant William Lewis Reece's confessions to four killings in 1997.
They also were told they will hear how he led investigators in Texas to the bodies of two of his victims 19 years after they went missing.
