Dickinson College in Carlisle is planning for students to return to campus for in-person classes for the 2021-22 academic year and decided the safest way to do that is to require COVID-19 vaccinations.
DIckinson joins nine other Pennsylvania private colleges in making this decision, according to The Chronicle of Higher Education, which is tracking the vaccine mandates. As of Monday, 319 campuses nationwide had imposed this mandate. ....

WEYBRIDGE Charles Laurence Strum, 73, passed away peacefully at Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury, Vt., on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. The cause was glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. Chuck, as he was known, was born in Manhattan on Jan. 28, 1948, the only child of Emmanuel and Dorothy (Doloboff) Strum. He grew up primarily in Teaneck, N.J., and spent the first 15 summers of his life on Lake St. Catherine in Poultney, during which time he grew to love Vermont. Chuck attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pa., majoring in History, where he met and married Rebecca Ware, the day after they graduated on May 25, 1970. ....

One year after the Black Lives Matter protests: what did they achieve? A year after people in Pennsylvania and all over the country took to the streets to protest the murder of George Floyd, has anything changed?
Those are the questions PennLive posed to activists and law enforcement officials last week. And the answer was a resounding yes.
Protesters such as political activist Shavonnia Corbin-Johnson and Kevin Maxson, with Voice for the Voiceless, say the protests mattered, and those who shouted against racism in town squares should be proud of what they achieved. Glossen is a peer reviewed, bi-lingual, German-American scholarly journal on literature, art, and culture in the German-speaking countries after 1945.
