Soul of a Nation, is just beginning. ABC is promoting the series as by Black people for all people, and
Soul of a Nation is meant to be an inclusive look at Black America from the inside that welcomes non-Black people into that world of culture, excellence and tragic history.
Everyone who isn t Black especially white people needs this series and its messaging. The six-part series is the first broadcast network news magazine to feature Black culture, from Black perspectives.
Each episode explores a theme. Those include spirituality, Black joy and Black activism in sports. The protests, activism and social change that erupted after George Floyd s death are a focal point. ....

Bay Area Reporter :: LGBTQ Agenda: Incoming MPact ED wants to make nonprofit 'three clicks away'


The incoming executive director of a global gay men s health nonprofit wants to make it more accessible to men who have sex with men.
Andrew Spieldenner, who was recently named leader of the Oakland-based organization, wants to make MPact Global Action for Gay Men s Health and Rights three clicks away for GBTQ men who want to get involved in the fight against HIV.
I would like to MPact to be the organization every gay, bisexual, trans, and queer man in the world is three clicks away from an organization they d find readily, be able to get resources from, and where we can tell the stories of people with HIV worldwide, Spieldenner said in a February 22 interview with the Bay Area Reporter. We want people to be able to build their own community groups, advocacy groups. If they want to start a book club, let s help! ....

Katy Has Two Grampas features illustrations by Mariia Luzino.
This book is based on an incident that happened to my daughter Katy, wrote Lyford on the book s website. It is filled with dozens of colorful original images and tells the story of a first-grade girl with a lisp who is always misunderstood by her classmates and teacher. One day when Katy talks about her two gay grampas, she becomes frustrated when the teacher thinks she means grampa and gramma.
With the help of her big sister, Katy is able to let her teacher know what she is trying to say. Finally, because she has such love for her grampas, who just so happen to be gay, and so much trust in their understanding her, she unexpectedly shines when introducing them at a classroom party for grandparents. ....

San Francisco s trio of state Democratic lawmakers is pushing myriad bills this year to address the housing and homelessness crises in California. Housing prices have skyrocketed throughout the Golden State during the COVID-19 pandemic as residents look to move into single-family homes due to the health crisis.
Despite efforts to move more unhoused people off the streets and into shelters or supportive housing to protect them from contracting the virus, more than 150,000 people across California remain homeless on any given night. The state has the largest unsheltered population in the nation.
COVID-19 has cast a big spotlight on our housing problems. If anything, it is often gotten worse under COVID, said gay state Senator Scott Wiener during a virtual news conference last week. COVID has made it even more clear what happens when you have a housing shortage. ....
